Security still tops the cloud priority list for customers of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) in the UK and Europe, with availability, reliability and disaster recovery close behind.
These are some of the findings from a survey that iomart commissioned the market intelligence organisation IT Europa to conduct of ISVs and VARs involved in providing hosted applications to customers in the UK and Europe.
When asked what characterised their own software delivery, connectivity was the most important factor, perhaps not a surprise given the total dependence of the customer on the server and host link. It is also clear from the findings that the “Ability to Deliver” is seen as the key factor in choosing a hosting provider.
The challenge for ISVs is to adapt to a new style of IT provision and promote themselves in a hugely competitive marketplace.
So how can we meet the challenges of the changing cloud model and channels? Our report – Making the Cloud Work – uncovers the issues confronting ISVs and their customers and how to address the key connectivity and resource issues.
