Have you ever had a burning question about server hosting but were too afraid to ask? Maybe you’re simply curious about the stuff we do (like, what is colocation anyway?) – or perhaps you’re a network geek that gets turned on by transit diagrams.

Well this is your chance to ask anything you want. From 3 pm today, we’re hosting a live Twitter Q&A over @MelbourneHost with our techies. We’ve let them out of their lavishly-gilded cages* and onto Twitter for one hour only.

All our support staff are either industry qualified (Microsoft, Cisco, Redhat) or working towards these qualifications so we’ll try and be as helpful as we can. But remember, 140 characters can be a bit tight for a full-on technical spiel.

Get involved: tweet us @MelbourneHost and use #AskMelbourne. You’ll be able to follow the tweets and hashtag on this page from 3 pm. Just don’t ask us how we choose our coffee (#canofworms…).

[googleplusauthor] @ Melbourne

* just kidding. All our techies are free range.

#AskMelbourne August 2012

A round-up of the #AskMelbourne chat we did in August 2012

It was a cold morning. OK, no it wasn’t but for some time we’d wanted to run a live Q&A for anyone interested in hosting to ask us questions. It’s an opportunity for us to share our knowledge and help people decide what they might want from a hosting provider. So, we had a go and this is what happened…
New blog post: Everything you ever wanted to know about hosting but were afraid to ask #askMelbourne http://j.mp/OW97udMelbourne Hosting
So at 3pm, our techies aided by myself and @marsh80 took over our Network Operations Centre. We used Twitterfall to display live tweets for the hashtag #AskMelbourne on the main displays and then used our desktops, MacBook, iPads and a helpful book to research responses.  We re-tweeted each question then tweeted our reply
